New Surprises Soon?

person reading a book

Hey guys,

It’s that time again for another monthly update on what I’m working on and what you guys can expect.

My First Audiobook

Admittedly, this one caught me off guard. It finished so fast. I’m excited for you guys to hear it for yourselves and to release it to the world. When exactly it’s dropping, I’m honestly not sure. Right now it’s tied up with the distributor, and once they green light it, the story goes live. I’m still not sure what’s the holdup; it’s been almost two weeks.

Needless to say, the suspense is killing me. You guys may be just as surprised as I am when it releases.  So I’ll try to keep you posted.

Vestige Update

Heavy grooming of What Lies Beneath Book Two in the Vestige Saga’s is still underway. I probably won’t have it back until early February, which leaves me in a pickle how to publish it again. I start a class on the following week or so, and that leaves me little time to plan, and get the cover tweaked.

Finger crossed, I can try for its March/April Anniversary. If not, May’s the earliest opening I can foresee. And I apologize to anyone really hoping to get a copy. It needs only a little more time, but I hope the wait’s worth it.

Book one’s still available on Amazon if you’re interested. (Shameless plug, lol.)

Lafonda and Leo Heroes of the Land

This story’s shaping up well. Currently, I returning to all the feedback I’ve received and rereading the entire story. I really want this one right, and the ending’s elusive, or at least stubborn in bending it how I’d like. At least the epilogue, the final chapter and one travel chapter need serious work done.

Beyond that, I’m excited and feel proud about how it turned out. Everyone seems to love the characters. The plot flows at smooth as silk, more so than Vestige as I feel the goals are more simplistic and engrossing. Its comedy seems balanced in most places. The places that I’m unsure I might repost on Write Practice Pro.

So if you’re interested in a sneak peek, you can find the rough drafts there. I also posted a more polished chapter one here.

In all honesty, my only concerns are time, marketing and money. I wanna publish it by late August, and it’s struggle.

Meanwhile, I hope to post another chapter here next month. Stay Tuned!

Upcoming Content

So in the coming months I may be more distant from social media and here than I hope. Like I mentioned before, I’m starting a class (really a series of classes) from this February to next February. But don’t worry. I still plan on posting twice a month as usual, but the coming content may vary a lot.

For starters, I want to post more of my stories here. I have lots of pieces I want to finish, but don’t know if the interest’s there nor have the time. That’s where this comes in.

I want to share my works in progress and drum up some attention for them. Snag a few eyeballs, turn some heads, etc. Especially for Lafonda and Leo. It sits around a beautiful 75,000 words, and I don’t want it to collect dust while I’m too strapped for cash to publish.

Alongside it, I’m currently getting feedback on another story I’d partially written, and hope to post my fragments of Book three of the Vestige Saga.

My class’s meant to help me build a stronger author platform and a fuller book, and I’ll be writing The Trapizest’s Lullaby for it. I’d started some on it, (I couldn’t resist) but I may tweak it a bit in new direction because I feel the plot demands it, and the world! My gosh, do I love the premise for this place. I still want it in the Vestige Continent. It’s just in the far east.

The Trapizest’s Lullaby

Looking back, I might change the title to The Hollow’s Lullaby.

Here’s the premise. It’s about an expert assassin, brought back to life, who must steal an ice phoenix to take down the crime organization she’d once built up for her freedom. It takes place in the lush mountainous country of Geneva Paradiso, bordering the Endless Bush, a dangerous savanna full of krocuta raiders, flying leonines, and, dire hyenas. I tried to model some of it off stories of Africa and heists with a fantasy twist, and took some advice to read new stories of my genre.

The assassin, Psyche Bates, is mysteriously reborn a hollow, a soulless one, cursed with youth and terrible powers. But this is all unbeknownst to her, hollows awaken without most memories of their past.

Sadly, she’s not alone. Narcopolis, the insomniac city, is fraught with hollows even to their police force, the restless watch, protecting their city past death. Worse, no one knows what brings about the curse from the Devil’s steppes beyond. All they know is you don’t enter the mysts at night.

Unlike the rest of the coast, though, Narcopolis prides itself in its night life. Machina “sprites” filter ozone cleansing the mysts. Clubs line the bustling waterfront, and the gangs run wild. Money hungry empires of industry rule the districts, and some police easily turn the other way. Surely not the easiest place to get back on your feet.

Now with her new partner Psyche “Belladonna” Bates must relearn the ways of the shadows and escape the guild’s games. They’ve stolen her life, her death, and her identity. And she’s gonna take back what’s hers.

All this to be said, I really want to write this. I want to share a lot more.

Anthem of Ink

In other news, I posted my first public video on my YouTube Channel. If you missed it, I’m looking to repost it here with subtitles. But I just can’t find a good annotation service, preferably free. Rev seemed good, but I thought it was free. Guess I heard wrong.

I’d like to post one video a month there for the year, but don’t know if I can. Writing’s more important. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Conclusion

So that about wraps up the monthly scoop. Be sure to check back for sneak peeks of fresh stories and follow up on the news.

Until next time,

Keep writing!

Antonio
