2020 SPFBO Finalists

Hey Guys,

I thought it would be nice to drop a link to the SPFBO finalists. The judges slaved away, and they deserve a pat on the back. I also struggled to find this info, so I thought it’d be nice repost it for someone else. 😉

Ten prestigious blogs chose some of the best of the best of self-published fantasy in a blog off. Three hundred contestants entered. Each blog chose their finalist, and it’s finally down to ten. Only one will come on top.

So if you’re looking for a good read or some inspiration, here you go.

I might do some “research” myself with it and see if there’s a commonality to improve my writing. I want redemption next contest.

The Finalist Line Up

  1. The Lost War By Justin Lee Anderson
  2. Voice of War  By Zack Argyle
  3. Shadow of a Dead God By Patrick Samphire
  4. The Combat Codes  By Alexander Darwin
  5.  Darkness Forged By Matt Larkin
  6. The Last Memoria By Rachel Emma Shaw
  7. A Wind from the Wilderness By Suzannah Rowntree
  8. Black Stone Heart By Michael R. Fletcher
  9. The Fall of Erlon By Robert H Fleming
  10. Nether Light By Shaun Paul Stevens

Who Else Entered?

Outside of the SPFBO finalists, there were several more semifinalists.

If you want to see what didn’t make the cut here’s a list of all three hundred and their reviews.

K.M. Weiland was a finalist, which I still think is pretty cool.  For those who don’t know, she’s an accomplished blogger and novelist of books for honing an author’s craft like writing character arcs.

One of my fellow SPS students, Skye Horn, also didn’t make the cut for her entry “Wings of Fate.” I still need to finish reading it. Sorry, Skye.

She’s just put out the third in her series, and I wish her huge congratulations on that.

Other Exciting News

On my author Facebook page, I’ve been posting tidbits of lore, hoping to hear feedback from readers like you on Kanaa, the world of the Vestige Saga. Please to check it out if want to impact the next entry.

Currently, we’re naming a fantasy creature called a Shrink, and votes are tied. Here’s a link to the full post. Be sure to throw your hat into the ring. I thought it would be fun to have the readers involved in the creative process. It’s like your own stake in my world.

Comment below if there’s anything you’d like to see, or to cast your vote. November’s update’s coming soon, but here’s October’s for now.

Until next time.

Keep writing!
