July Author Update

sticky notes attached on white wall

Hey guys,

I  just wanted to give a brief update on some news.

Contests

I received the results of the Short Fiction Break Contest. Sadly, I didn’t even place in shortlisting, but I’m glad one story at  I rooted for from the start won an honorable mention.

A huge shout to Jordy Hines and a fellow Active Alumni writer Carole Wolfe on their stories. Be sure to check out the final winner and others here.

So that’s one off the list. I’m still waiting for the judges’ feedback.

Changing gears, SPFBO#6 is still going on at the moment. New posts keep going up on their Facebook page. Lots of blogs even outside the competition are following along with their own reviews and interviews.

Last I heard, they will review the bunch I’m in around August. So fingers crossed but win or lose, its good publicity.

What am I working on?

Currently, I’m in isolation after experiencing some symptom synonymous with Covid-19. I feel okay, more or less, but I want to be safe and get tested.

On the bright side, this has led to a lot more progress on my books. I’m on chapter fifteen of my middle-grade fantasy and book three of the Vestige Saga is almost twelve chapters deep.

If you’re interested in a sneak preview, I posted three more chapters on Write Practice Pro. Be sure to let me know what you think.

Part two of The Veldt only needs some touch ups before another rough preview here. The conclusion may need some more time. I’m struggling with the trials, feeling meaningful. At this rate, it’s more of a novella.

That just about concludes our author update this month. Feel free to shoot me any questions or comments below on the Facebook page.

Stay safe out there,

Antonio
